We started August in the midst of our second Republic Lab, project Salsa. It focused on extending our voice technology to allow for seamless cellular to WiFi handover and was a big success! We began rolling it out to all capable phones in late August and so far the results have far exceeded the 3% voice offload improvement we estimated from the lab. We’ll take that extra savings and keep plowing it back into making your customer experience better and your savings opportunities even greater.
We also launched our online marketplace for purchasing Pre-Owned Republic Devices. A quick check-in as of this writing shows we’re sold out of all phone models, but if you’re interested, check back often as we’ll restock the virtual shelves as our supplies allow.
Most importantly, we are hard at work on a few issues that popped up for some of our members in August that we’re taking very seriously. For the latest on the Stagefright Android vulnerability, Lollipop 5.1 updates for all Gen. 1 Moto phones and timelines for each device, check out this recent post. And, for an even deeper look into what goes into a major OS update like Lollipop, check out our in depth post Behind the Curtain. As for everything else that happened in August, let’s run through the list!
