May: What’s New and What’s in the Works

In May we revealed the details of our big 2016 announcement — new phones, a new network, and new plans. We’re putting the final touches on each of them to get ready for our biggest launch ever this July. Here’s the recap:

1. New Phones

We announced seven new phones from Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Huawei. All are unlocked, running Android Marshmallow, and available for outright purchase or financing through our store. You may also choose to bring your own phone (BYOP) as long as it’s on the approved list — you can read more about that option here.

2. New Network

The new phones will be running on a new GSM wireless network that has the nation’s fastest 4G LTE coverage.

3. New Plans

Clear Choice plans will be available on new phones and provide a simpler way to save. We’re confident that there’s not a better plan out there than our $20/month Unlimited Talk and Text plan with 1GB of cell data!

We also announced that we’re allowing Republic 1.0 plan holders to continue with their plans for the foreseeable future. You can find more details on that decision here. Finally, we’re still working with our partners to update the Moto E (1st Gen.) phone to Android Lollipop. Our latest update is here and we’re optimistic that we can deliver it soon!

We’re really excited about the coming months for Republic. Stay tuned to our blog, emails, and social channels for the latest news!

I use ~100 MB of data per month. Therefore, my current 2.0 plan is better than that plan for me. Soo… it’s not the best one?

    1. It’s not “the best plan for every person’s needs,” but it’s certainly one of the best value plans out there. I’m currently stuck with a temporary Verizon phone, and I’m paying $50/month for pretty much that same plan (which seems to be the smallest plan they have which has any data at all). I also use only about 250MB of data a month, but the screen on my Moto X is broken, so I’m holding out for the new Republic phones.

  2. why does it take 3 weeks to sum up what happen last Month, by the time this is our you already need to put the next one out

  3. While Republic hasn’t made any official declarations yet, Motorola’s website lists the Moro X Pure now on backorder until July 8th. Keep an eye out, could mean we’ll hear more then.

  4. This has been good for my wife and me we was some of the first and are glad we did very happy here
