2015 has come and gone and what a year! We launched awesome phones, made some pretty cool lists and introduced our new money saving plans for members! Don’t know about you guys, but all that just gets us ramped up for more!
2016 is gearing up to be a big year for us and in the spirit of improving, we wanted to pull together some ways your phone can help you with your New Years’ resolutions!
Whether it’s getting more green veggies on your plate or finally completing that marathon (well, half…) you’ve been promising to sign up for, there’s tons of ways to get healthy in 2016 and lots of cool apps to help you do it! A couple of apps that can help you out are MyFitnessPal and Fitbit.
Fitbit doesn’t need a lot of introduction, it’s one of the most popular fitness tracking devices out there and whether you’re clipping or strapping it on, it’s a fun tool to help make exercise trackable and (for fellow nerds out there) like leveling up in a video game.
You can download the Fitbit app to your phone and use that to compete with your friends for those coveted steps and share your progress on social media!
While Fitbit helps you track steps and other cool things like your quality of sleep, MyFitnessPal takes a more self-guided approach. Track your meals, workout length (and type) and more while working with your friends towards your fitness goals! Just like with Fitbit, you can share your progress on social media and find friends to help you stick to your goals.
We love saving money and love it even more when our awesome members find new ways to save a buck! Mint is a great app if you’re working to pay off student loans, save up for a big purchase (like a boat!) or just to make sure you know where your money is going! With helpful perks like linking credit cars, your checking and savings accounts as well as loans you may need to pay off, Mint can help you stick to savvy spending goals.
Spending More Time With Family
It’s easy to fall into the habit of treating your phone like an extension of your arm. Heck, we’re pretty guilty of that ourselves (and our orthopedic specialists have the stern remarks to prove it). Some days though, it’s not enough to just leave your phone face down so you can have face time with your family and friends. Those notifications can be tempting and if you’re not careful it can turn date night into fight night!
Luckily, your phone has an app already installed to help you out with that. If you’re running on KitKat, it is called Assist, and on Lollipop it is just called “Moto” with the Assist function under there. Ever wonder why some coworkers seem to have a meeting on their calendar that starts on Saturday morning and lasts four hours? It’s probably not that they’re coming into the office for a four hour chat, they’ve probably added that meeting in to make sure Assist stops pesky reminders that aren’t urgent from distracting them from their kid’s recital or an important event with their parents!
Just by adding a meeting where you’re the only participant, RSVP’ing and making sure it’s not an “all day” event will let the app know you don’t want to be bothered by certain types of notifications. You can choose to turn on or off specific types of notifications like phone calls if you’re at a game and know the ringer won’t bother anybody or completely turn off any notification if you’re at the opera and don’t wanna be THAT guy.
Happy, healthy, wealthy, wise…or all of the above! May your 2016 resolutions help make you the person you want to be, we’ll be cheering for you!
