Our Interns Revealed

When most people think of an internship they imagine a day full of coffee orders and documents to scan.  We think that sounds like a waste of talent.  Which is why here at Republic, our interns are treated less like baristas and more like consultants.  Get to know the bright young minds that help make Republic tick.

Meet Jared

Jared

Title:

Business Development Intern #executiveintern

School:

NC State University

Major:

Entrepreneurship with a minor in Republic Wireless

Good to Know:

Jared is what you would call the sophisticated sort. He’s either listening to Frank Sinatra while sipping on his favorite bourbon, reading a good book to expand his entrepreneurial mind, or picking out his 3 outfits for the next day (yes, I said 3). He has definitely earned his unofficial title as “Executive Intern” for Republic Wireless. He started almost two years ago and has held many responsibilities since then, from building a team of brand evangelists to creating widely-used content that goes out to our member base. He has watched the company grow and waves of interns come in and out, him being the only real constant in the system. His favorite moments over the past 2 years of working here? Becoming close friends with his coworkers and taking a trip to NYC to research pop-up retailers. One can only imagine how many outfits he brought for that trip.

Somewhere on the water with a bourbon on the rocks in my hand.

On a more masculine note, he plays almost any type of sport he can- basketball, football, soccer, ultimate frisbee. His favorite moment in life? Meet Pauline

Pauline
Title:

Social Media Intern #socialprincess

School:

NC State University

Major:

Public Relations with a Minor in Business and Russian

Good to Know:

Pauline was thrown right into the fire when she started here with us and handled it very well (it’s the only way to learn, right?). She’s used to the adrenaline rush, though, after growing up next to Six Flags in New Jersey and considers herself a bit of a roller coaster junkie. When’s she’s not at school or work. She’s getting involved in school organizations like St. Jude Up ’til Dawn and RUF. Otherwise, she’s sitting at home watching movies, catching up on her knowledge of the Russian language, or planning her next ski trip.

Where is the coolest spot you’ve connected to WiFi?

At Appalachian Ski Mountain Lodge over New Year’s Eve Weekend on a class ski trip

Where’s your happy place?

A warm beach with a cold beer.

What keeps you up at night?

Due to my busy schedule, I often work out at night. I do late night zumba and cardio dance classes at my school’s gym.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Coffee. To be exact, a double chocolate chip frappuccino with a white mocha base, made light with skim milk and no whip.

What’s the next item on your bucket list?

Skydiving. I can’t wait to feel the rush.

Pauline
